Derek started his musical career in the 70’s as a member of the horn section of a local band in Durham, NC called Duracha.

Inspired by his favorite group Parliament/Funkadelic and his fascination with electronics, Derek began working with sound equipment and lighting systems.  With his proficiency in this field, he displays a professional and creative environment that gives SoulPlay Band the capability to be seen and heard clearly.

In his spare time he loves to travel & photography.
